Yahoo hires SCMP.com publisher

Singapore - Yahoo SE Asia has hired the former publisher of SCMP.com Chris Axberg as director of sales for the region and covering the Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam markets.

In his new role, Axberg relocates to Singapore from Hong Kong where he was responsible for the strategic business initiatives and operations of SCMP.com including all of the South China Morning Post Publisher's online properties. He now reports to Yahoo SE Asia, VP and MD, Ken Mandel.

A Yahoo spokesperson confirmed the news and said, in an email statement, that Axberg would help remove the friction from working online and drive demand for the medium by making the process of advertising online easier for all customer segments. He will deliver strategic insight to help clients benefit from performance businesses, including Yahoo Search Marketing, as well as mobile advertising and is also responsible for maintaining and growing the Yahoo sales team.
