Malaysia - Mobile value added services company MNC Wireless has entered into a partnership with Cellebrum.com India to jointly undertake R&D, production and marketing of digital content and services for mobile phones.
The results are expected to benefit clients who want to do digital advertising on mobile phones, among other things.
"Indian companies are fast at development. With Cellebrum, we could look into creating more apps for video sharing and games which advertisers can use to engage their audience. We could also create interesting handsets for advertiser clients," Jasmin Lee, CEO of MNC Wireless, said.
"We plan to develop apps for digital ad platforms and social networking services (SNS) on mobile phones. So for example, users can share icons. It is like having Facebook or Friendster on your mobile," Lee said.
"With this partnership, we can also help Malaysian advertisers reach out to the Indian market. An organisation like Tourism Malaysia may be interested in something like this. But we have not approached them yet as we just signed the agreement with Cellberum today."
According to her, the number of mobile phone users in India that are added every three months is equivalent to the population of Malaysia, and the penetration rate for mobile phones there is higher than PCs in Asia.
Cellebrum's SMS solutions handle 500 million transactions annually in India. The company is in the process of developing solutions such as Mobile Radio, Music Stations, and One-Many Chats. Its client base is spread across the spectrum of GSM and CDMA mobile service operators in India. Internationally, its client base includes MTNL Mauritius, Jordan Mobile, Areeba Ghana and Hutchinson Indonesia.
