Guess who don't sue - Apr08
Published: Mar 24, 2008 Which recently-held, prestigious, gala advertising awards event in Singapore underwent the scourge of food poisoning? Guests complained of stomach aches, frequent visits to the toilet and bouts of sweating after the dinner and the next day. A senior politician attended the event and one hopes he didn't eat the beef.
Who is the magazine editor who, on her much-anticipated wedding day to a wealthy socialite, was jilted at the altar? To make matters worse, the wedding photos were scheduled to appear in a gossip magazine the next week. Friends close to the groom say the pressure to maintain the appearance of perfection at all times proved too much and he did a runner as a result. Which financial services marketing director got so drunk at his own corporate event at a Kranji race track that, after blowing all his cash gambling on the nags, lost his wallet and keys, then, after finding himself alone and miles out of town, set himself up in a makeshift bed on the side of the Bukit Timah Expressway and bedded down for the night? Who is the magazine advertising sales boss who took her mobile phone to be repaired and has since discovered that the dozens of nude photos of her and an array of "friends" stored on her phone are now on full display online? She's not famous so there are no headlines, but the very thought of a colleague or client stumbling on the images is driving her crazy. Which very experienced public relations professional might be a lot more senior if she only stayed out of the clubs a bit more? Her inability to hold her drink has gotten her into so many compromising situations, including one compromising situation in a journalist's apartment, that clients have started requesting her removal from accounts. Who is the enormously talented, yet notoriously prickly, creative director who has been sacked for the third time from the same agency as a result of yet another blow-up with yet another client? True to form, the traditional tug of war over creative control lead to a huge argument and, yet again true to form, reinstatement when the agency boss thought twice about Singapore's talent shortage. Who is the advertising sales boss who is answering a few uncomfortable questions at the moment after some dodgy dealings have been uncovered regarding the placement of free ads in magazines under his control? The unproven scam appears to involve the ad sales boss, his wife's agency, free ads in the magazines and full-rate invoices from the agency to the clients. Oh dear. |
