Singapore - The editor of Viscion Media-published Playeur Journal, Dylan Tan, has left the magazine just two issues after its launch.
With a staff strength of six to work on the publication, Sumana Rajarethnam, currently a writer with the magazine and also the lifestyle editor for Lexean, has been tapped to fill the gap.
GM for Viscion Media Group, publisher of Playeur, Holman Chin said, "Tan left to pursue his other interests like music and film. Before he joined, he had been looking forward to spending some time in Australia. We believe that he may just do that to get some much deserved time off.
When asked how the company is intending to differentiate the new title from its competitors, Chin said, "Playeur is designed to appeal to a sophisticated reader who appreciates the female form. Readers love our spreads on two levels - the women are attractive, seductive, presented in a voyeuristic undertone and secondly, we use several different photographers for each issue and pay particular attention to the styling."
"We have more spreads than Maxim and FHM and refrain from using jokes, typical lifestyle stories, sports, or crowded layouts. Everything from gadget to watch spreads gravitates around the female form and gives new life to the usual spreads. While it teases, it also pleases as is evidenced by strong reader feedback and newsstand sales. In just two months we have garnered over 1,100 members on our Facebook page and are constantly asked if we take international subscribers."
Tan was previously editor for FHM and Maxim - Playeur's two other competitor lad-mags published in Singapore.
