Singapore - MediaCorp's Channel 5 has secured the rights to be the official free-to-air TV broadcaster of the 2008 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix and will be seeking sponsors for the programme as of today.

MediaCorp's range of media platforms will provide extensive and on-ground

coverage of the lead-up to the races, right through to the year-end race in Sao Paulo. The reportage will span television, radio, print and web properties.

The sponsorship packages are expected to cost between $60,000 and $250,000.

Starting this Friday, Channel NewsAsia will telecast a year-long series called Inside Grand Prix, offering viewers a comprehensive race preview and goes behind the scenes with the teams, players and the newsmakers before each race.

Today newspaper will be producing special supplements, starting with a 14-page supplement on 15 March to introduce readers to the history and excitement of motor racing.

FHM and Arena magazines will be producing racing-themed supplements and organising parties for clients, featuring the FHM girls, while MediaCorp Radio 987FM and Class 95 stations are organising the first racing challenge in August 2008, to promote and introduce car racing as a sport.
