Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)-owned businesses will receive a discount when shipping with UPS, under the logistics company's expanded supplier diversity programme.
UPS said it has inked an agreement with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) as part of its ongoing supplier diversity programme.
As part of its partnership with the organisation, UPS is offering members of the NGLCC a discount on UPS shipping services.
The NGLCC is the largest LGBT business development and economic advocacy organisation in the US and represents the interests of an estimated 1.4 million LGBT-owned businesses.
Aditi Dussault, manager of the NGLCC supplier diversity initiative said: "UPS is a strong advocate for the LGBT community and recognises the incredible business opportunities LGBT companies have to offer."
Since it launched in 1992, the supplier diversity process provides UPS business opportunities for small businesses and those owned by minorities, women, veterans and now lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals. “Expanding our process to include LGBT-owned businesses reinforces our commitment to supplier diversity,” said Lisa Johnson, procurement and supplier diversity manager at UPS.
