Singapore - MediaCorp will relaunch Vasantham Central as a dedicated Tamil channel and reposition Central as an English language lifestyle channel for kids, teens and the arts.
MediaCorp TV12's Central channel was previously a combination of three distinct programming belts - Kids Central, Arts Central and Vasantham Central.
Targeted for launch in the fourth quarter of 2008, Vasantham viewers will see an increase in Indian-language programming from the current 29 to 65 hours a week.
"We're acting on invaluable feedback from Indians living in Singapore on how they look forward to their own dedicated channel with a local flavour," Lim Suat Jien, MD for MediaCorp TV12, said.
In other MediaCorp news, the media giant has tasked its sales head, James Yip, to run its Vietnamese television joint venture. He will relinquish his current position on 10 March and Clifton Yong has been named as a replacement.
