Al Jazeera English gets on mioTV

Singapore - MioTV has signed on exclusive rights to broadcast Al Jazeera English in Singapore from 1 March.

Director of mio TV and content, Low Ka Hoe, said, "We are pleased to be the first to bring Al Jazeera to Singapore audiences. We have enormous respect for Al Jazeera's unique offerings and capabilities to cover news from the Middle East and around the world. By offering Al Jazeera English on mioTV as well on mobile phones, we enable our customers to catch the latest news and programmes at any time, even when on the go."

"The channel's access to the centres of global news allows us extensive reach into news from the Middle East and across the world. This is another step forward in Asia, a key region in which Al Jazeera English is experiencing huge audience demand," Al Jazeera Network's director of global distribution, Phil Lawrie, said.

Al Jazeera English broadcasts from the Middle East to over 100 million households worldwide. Subscribers to mioTV will be able to watch the channel streamed ‘live' on their mobile phones from April 2008.
