W Hotel gears up for Q3 launch

Hong Kong - Starwood's luxury line of W Hotel's has formed a marketing team and will appoint a PR agency as the luxury brand makes its first foray into Greater China. 

Headed by general manager Damon Page, W Hotel Hong Kong has nabbed Matthew Jung, former director of marketing & business development for Emphasis Media, as director of marketing. He will lead all marketing initatives and raise the awareness of the brand's first property in Greater China.

W will soon appoint a PR agency from a shortlist of five.

Page added that the focus for the next few months would be to build brand awareness of W Hong Kong with an online presence in the works.

He did not rule out building brand partnerships but said they had to be the right type of products that would align with their marketing strategies.

Bliss has already announced that it will launch its full service spa when W Hong Kong debuts in early Q3 this year.

With Hong Kong the first stop, the upcoming years will see W expand its presence in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Taipei.
