Round up for 2007
Looking at 2007 as a whole, there was agreement between local and global media. DBS, CapitaLand, Singtel and Singapore Airlines had the top four most cited CEOs. Locally DBS's Tai (116) took the lead followed by CapitaLand's Liew (115), Singtel's Lee (83) and Singapore Airlines' Chew (78) by way of mentions. A role reversal however was seen when it came to global citations. Singapore Airlines hit record figures of 630, about four times more than second ranking DBS at 279 and CapitaLand and Singtel at 227 and 157 respectively.
Contrasting the results with 2006 however, there were some differing figures. Leading the pack in Singapore then, was interestingly CapitaLand with 116, which chalked up just one more article than 2007. Absent from this year's top four at just 45 counts giving it 6th place locally was 2006's first runner up, UOB. It raked in 110 mentions for local and 164 for global, giving it a 4th placing globally in 2006.
Comparatively, Singapore Airlines did a good job in 2007 topping the global charts and retaining its 4th position locally.
Disappointments were also abound for Great Eastern which made its first entry into the second from bottom of 2007, with global and local citations at 10 and 2, a position it was far from in 2006, with 26 and 14 counts respectively.
With regards to international coverage, banks fared similarly for the both years but there were some changes in positions. Total bank citations were more this year thanks to DBS (279) but in general counts were dismal with UOB and DBS getting less fanfare. OCBC (59) had 20 lesser articles in 2007 bringing it to 3rd place, while UOB clocked 101 clinching its 2nd position - up from 3rd place with of 164 in 2006.
Telcos too saw a twining effect with SingTel taking a lead in both 2006 and 2007 and carrying in tow respectively in 2nd and 3rd, MobileOne followed by StarHub.
