Moshe Gavrielov will take over the position of CEO at Xilinx from Willem Roelandts, who remains at Xilinx as chairman of the board.
Gavrielov brings to Xilinx nearly 30 years of executive management and engineering experience with semiconductor and software companies. He was most recently at Cadence Design Systems where he served as executive vice president and general manager.
Prior to that, Gavrielov spent seven years as CEO of Verisity.
"Moshe has an excellent track record in building semiconductor and software businesses, applying an outstanding blend of strategic, analytic, business and leadership skills," said Roelandts.
Roelandts was named president and CEO in 1996 during which he grew the company's sales from US$560 to over US$1.8 billion in FY2007. He was recognised by Fortune magazine for implementing a culture of innovation and management philosophy committed to addressing difficult economic times without resorting to layoffs.
Roelandts will carry on with Xilinx as chairman of the board.
