First job ever?
I started out in the workforce as an education officer in a local secondary school.
First HR job?
I dabbled in HR for the first time in 1995 at a five-star hotel.
What are your key responsibilities in your current job?
My main objective is to achieve each hotel's operating goals by maximising employee productivity, improving staff well-being and revamping customer service objectives. I also implement training programmes and make sure that both hotels' HR policies and procedures are in accordance with local legislation.
What attracted you to a career in Raffles Holdings?
The company gave an impression that it was dynamic and rapidly expanding in the hotel trade as well as in other business ventures.
What is the most important contribution HR can make to a business?
Proactively meet and anticipate the needs of the business through successful selection, retention, training & development plans.
What key skills do you need to be successful in your current role?
Meeting the daily challenges of a large workforce and being able to anticipate and meet the challenges of the future.
Why a career in HR?
HR is a strategic department that can contribute and have an overall impact on the entire hotel.
Best career advice you've ever given?
Do something that you are passionate about and be committed.
If you weren't in HR, what would you be doing?
I would still be in the hotel line. Perhaps I would join the operations unit.

I spend quality time with my family, also I love to experiment with new Peranakan recipes.
