WPP will create new agency for Dell
Dell's website Published: Dec 03, 2007 Global - Dell has picked WPP to handle its marketing in a $4.5 billion, three-year partnership - the advertising conglomerate has stated in reports it will create a yet unnamed agency to handle the computer company's account.
WPP is likely to hire over 1,000 people to manage the creative portion of the account, with the exception of the media duties. Dell has also stipulated a deadline of March next year for the company to start running its marketing activities. Currently Dell has different marketing vendors globally to work on its creatives and communications. This move will see it consolidate its communications under one umbrella company and Dell has not restricted the new WPP company to only servicing it solely. In APAC, Havas's Euro RSCG handles the Dell creative business and Valliappan Lakshmanan, group account director, has recently relocated to Japan to oversee the account. Both Dell and Euro RSCG could not be reached for a comment. |
