Singapore - SingTel mio TV has added two 24-hour international channels - German channel Deutsche Welle (DW-TV) and Filipino channel GMA Pinoy TV - to cater to the German and Tagalog-speaking audiences respectively.
German's only overseas international channel, DW-TV, offers news and programmes on business, finance, lifestyle, culture and entertainment. It broadcasts in German and English, with its programming alternating hourly between the two languages. DW-TV will be available on mio TV's Channel 57 as of 1 December. It will air programmes such as Journal, a European news programme covering politics, business, sports and culture as well as euromaxx, a magazine programme covering the latest on lifestyle and entertainment in Europe.
GMA Pinoy TV belongs to broadcasting network GMA Network and will air here as of 15 December. Available on Channel 56, its programmes are in both Tagalog and English, and cover a range of genres including news and entertainment. Some programme highlights are 24 Oras, a daily primetime news programme providing local and global news, Eat Bulaga, a noon-time variety show, and Marimar, a drama still on-air in the Philippines.
Both channels will be streamed directly from Germany and Philippines respectively via satellite.
