Johnnie Walker gets Jennie going

Singapore - Johnnie Walker has unveiled Jennie, a mobile technology application in the form of an attractive personal assistant avatar for the mobile phone which is able to plan social calendars, recommend bars and clubs, secure invitations to events and help get clubbers home after a night out.

Jennie will be launched in the first quarter of 2008 as a downloadable application via a link sent by SMS and St. James Power Station is the first venue to confirm participation. Jennie was developed by Johnnie Walker as a way to create stronger relationships with increasingly mobile consumers in Singapore.

"Most people in Singapore would not leave home without their mobile phones. We have one of the highest rates of mobile phone ownership in the world, and it's no wonder that many applications are being developed for a highly mobile, tech-savvy audience. Our new Johnnie Walker Digital Personal Assistant is a world-first, and we're proud to launch it in Singapore. Not only does it provide our consumers with the type of information they seek - such as news on the latest club events - but it also encourages them to act responsibly and get home safely," John Collins, marketing director for Moët Hennessy Diageo Singapore and Malaysia said.

The application has four main functions on the menu - ‘Take Me There', ‘Tell Me When', ‘What's Hot', and ‘Take Me Home' with the latter allowing the user to either book a taxi or send an SMS to a designated driver when it is time to go home. Subject to further network support, Jennie will be able to order taxis without the user having to speak to an operator, using location based technologies. ‘Take Me There' is a visual map depicting locations of participating outlets while ‘Tell Me When' is a social calendar.

Currently, Jennie is only available on Nokia N and E series phone models and a one time only data charge will apply for the initial download.
