Singapore - Boom Event Management will launch The Asian Poker Championship 2008, the first Asian gaming event to be staged on a circuit of eight Asian cities from January to May, led by Boom's new managing director Phillip Goh.

The Asian Poker Championship competition is designed and staged both as a competition and tourism draw for the cities staging it. Participating countries will crown their own winner, who will receive a cash prize of up to US$500,000 (S$721,550). All national champions will then battle at the Grand Finals where the Asian Champion will win a grand prize totalling up to US$2,000,000 (S$2,886,200).

The event will be first staged in Manila and the list of cities staging the Asian Poker Championship 2008 will be revealed by the end of December this year. Apart from Boom, sister companies in the TNBT group namely Crush Advertising, Bang Public Relations, Reap Interactive and Rage Branding Consultancy will be roped in to service the project as well.

Goh is heading this project, backed by 12 years of experience in events management as well as developing and staging international trade fairs across Asia, such as The PC Show, BeautyAsia and Optimal.

"With Phillip's extensive regional experience, I am confident that he will bring Boom to greater heights by creating our very own signature events that will be the talk of the industry," Palani Pillai, CEO of TNBT International said.

Goh will lead Boom's growth and penetration into high-end MICE markets in Singapore and the region. He is also expected to focus on furthering Boom's innovation, creativity and service excellence.

In the coming months, Boom will be working with various leading industry players to organise other major trade and consumer events such as Platform 2008, where aspiring designers become brands.
