Singapore - The F1 Grand Prix has been officially named as the '2008 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix' as the telecommunications company nabbed the appellation of title sponsor.
"SingTel, has a strong brand as well as a powerful regional and international presence making it ideal as title sponsor for the Singapore Grand Prix. We look forward to working together on a wide range of high-profile activities as we prepare for race day, one of the highlights of next year's calendar," Ong Beng Seng, tycoon and race-promoter for Singapore GP said.
It will be the first F1 street race in Asia and will be one of three races in 2008 to run anticlockwise. SingTel's Group CEO Chua Sock Koong added, "We constantly strive to be at the forefront of our business and the association with this world-first puts us the spotlight. The world is watching and this is a great event upon which to position the SingTel brand on an international level, as well as reinforcing Singapore's image as an exciting global city."

There will be global coverage with the FIA F1 World Championship available in 185 territories and an audience nearly hitting 600 million. Sponsorship details will be announced early 2008.
