Beijing - Weber Shandwick has nabbed Yang Weimin, general manager for Beijing Broadcom as VP for corporate practice in Beijing, with Scott Sykes, VP and director of technology and interactive, social media practices to relocate to Beijing from Hong Kong.
The new appointments were announced after Charles Shen, VP leading the corporate and tech practices in Beijing left recently.
Yang will be responsible for overseeing the corporate practice in Beijing and managing major clients such as MasterCard and Honeywell while Sykes will continue his regional technology and new media practice duties as well as lead the Beijing tech practice including Screengrab, an interactive, social and emerging media division.
"Both Yang's and Scott Syke's deep experience further enhances our capabilities to support our clients, while supplementing our strategic growth in the region," David Liu, managing director for Weber Shandwick China said.
Yang was previously GM for Beijing Broadcom where he worked with both MNC and large Chinese companies in the tech industry that include clients such as Cisco Systems, Nokia and Panasonic as well as China Mobile Communication Corporation.
Sykes joined Weber Shandwick in Hong Kong 18 months ago to lead the tech practice and the technology and new media practices for the Asia Pacific region. Before joining the PR agency, he was with IBM leading public relations strategy and execution for the company's software, services, research and microelectronics business units.
