Hong Kong - Star has appointed Edward Hanapole, former VP, global technology for News Corporation in a newly created position as chief information officer, responsible for developing the company's digital technology and new media capabilities across the region.
Based in Hong Kong overseeing the information technology application, new media services and infrastructure as well as business technology functions, he reports to Laureen Ong, COO of STAR.
"He is an experienced digital media executive with strong vision and a passion for innovation. His credentials and experiences will be of great value to Star as the company seeks to expand its digital services in the region,"Ong said.
Previously as VP, global technology for News Corp, Hanopole was charged to increase content and technology sharing among the company's Internet properties. Before that, he was lead partner of IBM global business services' Digital Media Practice and Global Executive for IBM's Global Digital Media group. He also had experience as chief information officer of New York Times Digital, a division of The New York Times Company.
