TVB.com set for international expansion

Hong Kong - Television Broadcasts Limited's online arm TVB.com will expand its services overseas and has hired Ivy Wong, former senior director of global sales at Yahoo!, to expand the online platform.

Wong, who joined the company as chief operating officer on Wednesday (31 October), said TVB.com had set aggressive targets to monetise its online platform, which will include building up a mobile and IPTV offering.

"TVB.com has aggressive plans to develop a new media business," Wong said. "I want to see how the internet can integrate with TV, because at the moment people treat them as two separate mediums."

Wong said TVB.com will also expand its services to overseas markets and develop its considerable Chinese language lifestyle portals.
