Nielsen ramps up online offering
The company has also announced a new mobile measurement offering, aptly titled Nielsen Mobile, but the service is not expected to launch locally for some time.
Agnes Hui, communications director at Nielsen Hong Kong, said the rapid take up of online around the region meant that the company would eventually launch Nielsen Online in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and China.
"For sure both will be here, it's just a matter of timing," she said.
Nielsen Online has been slated to track "independent measurement and analysis of online audiences, advertising, video, blogs, consumer-generated media, word-of-mouth, commerce and consumer behavior," according to a company release.
David Calhoun, Nielsen CEO, said, as online and mobile channels grew, it was "essential" that Nielsen was measuring these channels.
"With this new structure, we are prepared to focus with even more intensity on delivering the complete picture of consumer activity and behavior in the digital space and across all media platforms," he said.
