Floatel signs with Keppel
KEPPEL CONTRACT OIL & GAS
Singapore - Keppel FELS has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Floatel International to build a new generation harsh environment accommodation semisubmersible.
The value of the turnkey semisubmersible contract is US$315 million and is scheduled for delivery in July 2014.
The vessel will be based on the Floatel Superior design, equipped with a Dynamic Positioning 3 capability. It will also be built suitable for worldwide operations, meeting the most stringent rules and regulations.
Under completion, the new semisubmersible will be able to accommodate 440 persons in single bed cabins, fitted with modern facilities for both recreation and office. In addition, it will be ideal for construction support during new construction, maintenance activities or decommissioning of projects of offshore oil and gas installations.
If the contract is successful, it will be Floatel's fourth accommodation semisubmersible with Keppel, after its previous deals made in 2010 and 2011.
Keppel said a further announcement will be made when the contract is signed.
"Keppel FELS has been a good partner for us in terms of reliability and quality, with an established track record of delivering on time and on budget," Peter Jacobsson, CEO of Floatel, said.
