AOTY Jury Spotlight: Claudian Navin Stanislaus
Malaysia - Starting today, Advertising+Marketing will be running a spotlight series where we will introduce each of the judges who will be part of the all client-marketer jury panel for the Agency of the Year Awards 2012.
This jury panel consists of industry leaders from major advertisers in the country, hailing from various industries such as FMCG, hospitality, finance and telecommunications.
Today, we welcome Claudian Navin Stanislaus, head of advertising and promotions for Baba Products Malaysia, a household brand that is no stranger to Malaysian homes.
Although his background is not in marketing communications, he has worked in various industries and used his experience to help him understand and develop creative concepts and strategies that better meet the requirements of the clients and companies that he has worked for.
Drawn to the advertising industry through a passion for writing, he looked to this paying hobby as a prospective career during a period of volatility in the financial markets - as a pre-emptive measure.
His early years in the industry were spent working on several IT-based clients, such as the Multimedia Super Corridor, Intentia Asia Pacific and MyWeb, to name a few. His background in IT gave him greater insight into these products and before long he developed a knack for being able to put himself in the clients' perspective, and create inside-out strategies - which often were to the detriment of his agency as these were by far, more cost-efficient for the clients. The only obvious thing to do was to move to the clients' side!
As the head of advertising and promotions at Baba's, Malaysia's Premier Curry & Spice Brand since 2003, Navin is also the creative force behind its full-service in-house advertising & media agency. He is tasked to develop, produce and manage the entire brand's global advertising, content development, media, PR and brand initiatives.
He has successfully repositioned Baba's as a Malaysian brand to be reckoned with, after successfully capturing the 18-35 age group across all ethnicities in the curry and spice category, through a series of innovative branded content development initiatives, which have been credited with the year -on -year increase in sales of between 40% and 60% during its campaign periods. What's more, it was all done on a conservative budget.
Navin has a great passion for books on religion and all things ancient, and a member of the International Society For Philosophers.
Impress Navin and our other judges. The deadlines for the Agency of the Year Awards and the MARKies are 6th April and 13th April 2012, respectively.
