National - Visa China and the Discovery Networks Asia has launched their four-month long project "The Unexpected", which seeks to build on Visa's sponsorship of the Beijing Olympics and showcase emerging Chinese filmmakers.
In April this year, six Chinese filmmakers were chosen to produce a series of five-minute short films with the theme "The Unexpected", shot in six former Olympic host cities - Rome, Seoul, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo (pictured), and Sydney.
The Visa-sponsored program launched in Beijing yesterday and will air on the Discovery Travel & Living channel from 27 September to 1 November.
"The ‘Visa-Discovery Unexpected Short Films Series' aims to show people discovering the world from a Chinese perspective, while at the same time providing an opportunity for the world to discover China," Li Sheng, Visa China vice president & head of marketing, said.
"We want to capture the entire range of emotions and sense of pride that people feel when they live in an Olympic host city."
