Hong Kong - James Kynge, Pearson's chief representative in China, has taken on a newly created role as president of FTChinese.com, responsible for leading its business development and expansion in China and the around the world.
"His (Kynge) extensive knowledge of the country and experience of the FT and Pearson will greatly contribute towards our goal to continue to grow and extend products targeting the rising domestic business and financial community," Angela Mackay, executive director and head of Asia Pacific said.
Kynge will be based in Beijing and Rong Zhou, managing director for FTC will report to him.
In his role as Pearson's chief representative in China, Kynge is responsible for mapping strategy for the 11 Pearson companies in the country. Prior to this, he had 20 years of experience as a journalist in Asia working for Reuters and the Financial Times.
"FTChinese.com is going from strength to strength, building on a reputation for providing reliable and accurate business news to a growing Chinese audience that needs to understand developments in the outside world," Kynge said.
"I think it is very exciting to be able to work at the interface between China and the world, especially at a time when Chinese companies and individuals are increasingly ‘going out'."
