Hong Kong- eBay has launched the second phase of its This is Hong Kong campaign, extending the platform to the local toy industry, and plans to roll the initiative out internationally by the end of this quarter.

This is Hong Kong program launched in March this year focusing on the local fashion industry to promoting local brands globally and enabling fashion designers to complement their offline sales and marketing efforts.

The latest initiative, titled The Online Toy Crusade, kicks off on 17 August and will see local toy traders and six designers such as Tim Tsui, Alice Chan and Michael Kwong jump on the bandwagon.

"With over two hundred million eBay users, the This is Hong Kong campaign is a powerful sales and marketing platform for Hong Kong brands", Kerry Wong, MD for eBay Hong Kong, said.

"The Online Toy Crusade has taken the significance of This is Hong Kong to a higher level by including not only designers but also traders in the industry."

Wong added that toys were chosen this time to coincide with the summer holidays as well as in preparation for the Christmas season.

Mark Michelson, associate director general for Invest Hong Kong said: "I am confident that eBay's commitment to a long term development in Hong Kong will help enrich our eCommerce industry and enhance our overall competitiveness".
