M&C Saatchi launches eBay campaign

Hong Kong - Online auction company eBay has launched an M&C Saatchi Hong Kong-created ad campaign -- dubbed World For Sale -- to mark its debut in the SAR. Targeted at youth, the campaign is the first work by the agency after it won the regional business in May in a competitive pitch (as reported on Marketing Weekly, April 6 2005).

According to a statement, M&C Saatchi focus group research found that younger consumers in Hong Kong were "on a quest for unique and unusual products", making a natural fit to eBay's worldwide abundance of products auctioned online.

Print executions feature large white dotted lines for consumers to follow and cut out the vintage toys, limited edition furniture, clothes and electronic items which they missed out on by not bidding quickly enough online at eBay. Placed by OMD, the ads have been sited on MTR station walls.

M&C Saatchi's Kuala Lumpur office also recently won the high-profile Alliance Bank advertising account after a four-way competitive pitch.
