Global - The number of entries for this year's Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival has increased by 18% to 22,101 compared to last year's event, an occurrence partly due to the introduction of two new categories -- Radio Lions and Titanium.

"It's been a great year for Lions Direct, Media Lions, Cyber Lions and Press & Outdoor," said Terry Savage, Festival CEO. "We are also particularly pleased to see the Radio and Titanium entries start so strongly -- this is a good indicator for the success of these categories in the future." Radio Lions awards outstanding creative work on radio, while Titanium marks a step up from the traditional Gold Lion award.

Without taking into account the two new categories, the overall percentage increase in entries is 12%. The festival, deemed the most prestigious advertising awards in the world and the largest global gathering of marketing and advertising professionals, is currently underway in Cannes, France.
