Media owners, 4As launch inaugural media awards

Singapore - The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As) and a number of media owners have banded together to launch the Singapore Media Awards 2005 to showcase "outstanding media thinking" and the "strategising behind highly successful advertising campaigns".

"An effective media strategy plays an integral role in the success of an ad campaign -- you only need to open a newspaper or walk outside to see the innovative ideas media professionals employ to cut through the clutter and connect with consumers," said Julie Tilley, General Manager of Initiative Singapore and Chairman of the 4As media committee. "These awards will promote the value of a great media strategy and importantly, the media team behind it."

Over 15 categories of awards including a Grand Prix accolade -- the winner of which will be sent to the Media Lions in Cannes 2006 -- are up for contention. There will also be special merit awards recognising the support of media sales people.

Supporters of the event include MediaCorp, Singapore Press Holdings, Clear Channel, ACP Asia, Yahoo!, StarHub, CNN, The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek.
