Kaur joins MediaCom as MD

Singapore - Ex-Starcom CEO Jaswinder Kaur has confirmed she has joined MediaCom as managing director - she replaces outgoing MD VR Padmanabhan who is relocating to Chennai and officially assumes the position next Monday.

Starcom announced Kaur's departure from the agency in March this year - at the time there had been industry talk that Kaur would join MediaCom, a rumour which Kaur had then dismissed. She told Marketing however that her current decision to join MediaCom was made only made less than a month ago and was an "independent decision" taken only after she had left Starcom.

"I'm looking forward to the challenges at MediaCom," Kaur said. She had been with Starcom from when it was known as Leo Burnett Media, and joined the media agency in 1989 as regional GM, before moving to Starcom Indonesia in 1995 to take up a role as media director. She returned to Starcom Singapore in 2001 as a training director and led the agency's P&G account. She assumed her Starcom CEO position in early 2006, following a reorganisation of the agency's business units.
