OMD beefs up China operations with new hires
Left: Uy and Wu Published: Jul 06, 2007 National - OMD Shanghai has hired ex- JC Decaux marketing director William Uy as outdoor director tasked to oversee the outdoor operations of both the OMD Shanghai and Beijing offices. He will primarily serve the Olympic sponsors such as VISA, GE and J&J. Other major clients include Apple (iPod), Michelin and SCB. Uy reports to business director, Freddie Wong. The Shanghai office has also appointed James Wu as associate digital planning director. In his newly created position, Wu is responsible for building a full-function digital team to deliver better service to digital clients and develop new businesses. He reports to Mike Bainbridge, strategic planning director for OMD Shanghai. Wu was previously business director of digital department at EuroRSCG Partnerships Taipei. At OMD Guangzhou, Pauline Tsang has replaced Cathy Wen as general manager tasked to manage and build the Guangzhou office as well as enhance and further improve staff account management and planning skills including growing the current Guangzhou office business. Tsang was previously regional business director from Carat International in Shanghai and also worked before in Zenithmedia China as group planning director responsible for the Beijing and Shanghai offices. Martin He is also recently promoted from buying director to deputy general manager, a newly created position, where he will assist Tsang on general office management on top of his buying responsibilities. Having joined OMD for five years, some of the clients that He handles include Amway, McDonalds, HK Disneyland and Mercedes Benz.
