Singapore – CNBC Asia Pacific CEO and President Alexander Brown has announced he is departing the channel to return to the US with his family after spending 12 years in Asia, more than three of which were with CNBC in the top role. Brown will be taking up a position with CNBC’s headquarters in Englewood, New Jersey, although it has not been confirmed in what capacity. He will depart CNBC Asia Pacific just before Christmas.  "I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience at CNBC Asia Pacific, largely because of the tremendous people we have employed here -- they are really second to none,” said Brown. “However, after twelve great years in Asia, including the three and a half years at CNBC, I must say I am thrilled to be returning to CNBC in the US."  His interim replacement is Jeremy Pink, currently Vice President of International News and Programming in the US -- Pink will assume his duties in January. It is understood that Pink has been with CNBC for a considerable length of time and has worked in Asia before. He has editorial experience gained while working for CNBC in the early days, and has managed the programming side of CNBC in Europe. Brown’s departure follows the recent news of CNBC Asia dropping three of its shows -- Generation-e, Asia Market Wrap and CNBC Tonight -- and introducing new two-hour global programme Worldwide Exchange, to launch December 19.  Dow Jones & Company is also transferring its 50% equity interests in CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe (“CNBC International”) as well as its 25% interest in CNBC World to NBC Universal as of December 31 in a move CEO Peter Kann attributes to “business reasons”. “Dow Jones wants to focus its investments on areas of both strategic value and profitable growth -- CNBC International did not fit that definition, so we exited,” a Dow Jones spokesperson told Marketing magazine in an earlier interview.
