Singapore - The first graduates of AWARD School Singapore were announced on December 1, with freelance designer Michael Qwah picking up the top student award, TBWA creative Jason Ng coming in at runner-up and Angie Featherstone receiving the ‘Best of Show’ ad award for her piece for Rogaine (left) -- a total of 25 students attended the course, and all graduated. AWARD School looks now to continue to flourish in Singapore and become mandatory training for junior creatives,” said Lucy Mckee, AWARD’s representative of development in Asia. The judging panel responsible for selecting the top students and the best work comprised McCann Erickson Executive Creative Director Ng Tian It, The Works Asia Creative Partner Rob-Martin Murphy and M&C Saatchi Executive Creative Director Richard Johnson. “The AWARD School represents the best hunger meter I can ever find to identify potential talents -- thanks to its arduous duration, the complacent ones were immediately sieved out,” said Ng. “To me, the Best Student winner was an obvious choice as all his ideas seemed to come about after going through the almost-obsolete-fill-in-30-boxesmethod introduced by OMON eons ago -- little wonder he had the most refreshing solutions to all the 10 briefs.” AWARD School focuses on “great ideas in advertising” across all media and allows agencies to give back to the industry and nurture the next creative generation. For students, AWARD School allows them to get into the agencies themselves and learn from the most talented people in the industry. The Singapore course will recommence in May 2006. DDB, Leo Burnett, JWT, BBDO, Euro RSCG, Y&R, Publicis, McCann, M&C Saatchi, Kinetic, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA all contributed to the 12 week part-time course by holding lecture and tutorial sessions.
