Singapore - Starcom has scored the most number of finalists -- seven in total -- in the inaugural Singapore Media Awards 2005, an event which celebrates the innovative communication strategies that media agencies, clients and media owners have effectively executed over the past 18 months. Initiative follows with five finalists, while Mediaedge:cia, OMD and Mindshare scored four each. “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for so many awards, especially since this is the first time that the media industry is being recognised in its own right with a dedicated awards show,” said Mark Bowling, Director for Research & Strategic Planning, Starcom Mediavest Group. “It's a huge compliment to get recognition from the media community for the work that has been produced by the agency, and the achievements we have made in partnership with our clients.”A total of 167 entries were received for the Awards and were judged by a panel of senior practitioners such as Olivia Wong from Cathay Pacific, Richard Johnson from M&C Saatchi and Jim Goh from OMD. Other finalists include MediaEdge:CIA, Universal McCann, Zenith, Carat, Maxus and MediaCompete. The Awards Show, where the eventual winners will be announced, will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz Carlton Hotel on September 1.SMA Finalist TallyAgencyFinalist(s)Starcom7Initiative5Mediaedge:cia4MindShare4OMD4Universal McCann3Moove Media2Carat1MediaCompete1Maxus1Zenith1
