Singapore - London-headquartered Ink Publishing has taken its baby steps into Asia by clinching the inflight magazine publishing contract for local low-cost carrier Tiger Airways, and having opened an office in Amoy Street here means to use Singapore as a base from which to launch its operations in the region.  “The magazine will be driven towards destinations and promoting the Tiger network,” Ink Publishing Director Simon Leslie told Marketing Weekly. Specific content will include coverage of topics such as “shopping, eating and getting away” -- in essence, lifestyle, destination and business features that “reflect the diversity of Tiger Airways’ young and affluent travellers”.  The as-yet-unnamed 100-page publication, to launch November 1 at 20,000 to 25,000 copies, aims to reach 700,000 readers per quarter. Ex-Elle Singapore and Female Editor Theresa Tan has come on board to lead a team of three editorial and design staff, with ex-Emap Singapore, Panpac Media and Eastern Publishing staffer Jackie Ho to lead the advertising sales team of five. Targeted advertisers will include “brands which appreciate people who are intelligent with their money”, said Leslie. “We aim to follow up very quickly in the region -- we have lofty ambitions,” he added. Ink, with operations in Europe and North America, publishes a raft of inflight, specialist business and travel titles including Virgin Express’ Red Hot, VLM Airlines Velocity, European Business magazine and Bradmans Business Travel Guides to Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Europe and North America.
