Australia - The outdoor advertising contract for Sydney Airport, estimated to be worth US$75 million, has been awarded to Adshel and APN Outdoor after a competitive tender process. The new seven-year contract includes approximately 30 external large-format faces and 70 internal faces within the International terminal. Adshel will manage the internal portfolio whilst APN Outdoor will manage the external.  “We demonstrated how Sydney Airport could be further positioned as a global brand and a more powerful medium for advertising within Australia,” said Richard Herring, CEO of APN Outdoor in a statement. “We are already working on implementing our recommendations.”  Added Adshel CEO Steve McCarthy, “Adshel is pleased to be part of the winning bid and our close relationship with Clear Channel -- Adshel is a 50/50 joint venture between APN News and Media and Clear Channel -- and its extensive airport portfolio places us in a unique position to offer Sydney Airport access to a network of global opportunities in terms of format innovation and international advertisers.” “The Sydney Airport tender covers the most prestigious outdoor advertising portfolio in Australia -- it was an extremely competitive bidding process and we had strong interest from all major outdoor advertising specialists,” said Max Moore-Wilton, CEO, Sydney Airports Corporation Limited. “We are confident that APN Outdoor and Adshel can deliver an improved asset base and increased returns to the airport for the benefit of both advertisers and shareholders alike.”
