Singapore - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) is in the concluding stages of a deal to acquire outdoor media specialist MediaBoxOffice in a move that will see it making inroads into the outdoor advertising playing field here, with the new subsidiary to trade under the name SPH MediaBoxOffice.SPH aims for the subsidiary to help towards its aim of offering “integrated marketing solutions” to clients, with these including -- besides outdoor now -- newspapers, magazines, the Internet and radio. MediaBoxOffice declined comment as the final terms of the agreement were yet to be signed off as this edition of Weekly went live.MediaBoxOffice outsources outdoor media space to clients, with these including the T-Pole LED screen at the Causeway as well as LED screens at Toa Payoh Hub, Caltex House, and the new Singapore Visitors Centre at Orchard Road. The company is the exclusive advertising agent for the SuntecCity car park and also a network of 30 multi-story and open surface HDB car parks around Singapore. “Outdoor media would be a fair target for SPH as it is an area of growth,” Ron Graham, APAC Managing Director of Kinetic told Marketing Weekly. “MediaBoxOffice is a decent, mid-sized business, and the acquisition will give it more clout in the local market. I can only see positives with regards to consolidation in the outdoor industry in Singapore -- the gap between the big and the small players is currently too wide.”
