AKQA San Francisco hires CD to lead creative direction for Xbox

Global - AKQA has appointed Mauro Alencar as Creative Director to its San Francisco office, where he will lead the global creative strategy for Xbox. The agency was recently awarded global interactive marketing duties for the Xbox 360 brand as well launching all of Xbox’s first-party titles for Microsoft Games Studios and Xbox’s online console gaming service, Xbox Live.  In a statement released by the agency, Tom Bedecarre, CEO of AKQA said that Alencar personifies Xbox’s target audience as he “is part of a new breed of creative professional who was born of the digital revolution”.  “He is an avid gamer who can provide an authentic brand experience and yet is able to connect to a broader digital entertainment audience,” Bedecarre added. A native of Brazil, Alencar was previously Executive Creative Director at Blast Radius in Vancouver, with his experience including clients such as Nike, Nintendo, Heineken, and BMW Canada.
