Weber Shandwick Shanghai boosts specialty practices with new appointments

National - Weber Shandwick has appointed Terence Lau and Amanda Wu as associate director of the sports marketing practice and account director for the consumer and travel practice respectively for the Shanghai office, in efforts to support the PR agency's fast-growing sports marketing and consumer and travel businesses.

As associate director of the sports marketing practice for Weber Shandwick, Lau is tasked to manage Nike in China. He was previously from Rocketball Limited in charge of sponsor activation for the Yao Ming's Houston Rockets, the Houston Comets and the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. He has also worked in both North America and Asia with NBA Asia, the Houston Rockets and Sports International Limited. 

Wu who joins Weber Shandwick as account director for the consumer & travel practice is responsible for the luxury and consumer accounts including Gibson Guitar, Royal Caribbean International and Laguna Phuket. Previous brands she has worked with include Tiffany & Co., Bvlgari, Chopard, Lancome, Feria, Maybelline, Kerastase, La Prairie, Sonia Rykiel, Anna Sui and Polo Ralph Lauren as well as General Motors Taiwan and MasterCard International.

"The new appointments reflect our strong organic and new business growth in 2007 and the need to further add senior counsel for our growing client roster," Darren Burns, MD for Weber Shandwick Shanghai said.

Lau and Wu both report directly to Burns.
