National - Huawei Technologies, provider of next-generation telecommunications networks for operators, has appointed PR agencies Fleishman-Hillard and Manning Selvage & Lee to drive corporate brand exposure worldwide, following a competitive selection process.

Incumbent agency, Fleishman-Hillard will lead the global account from its Hong Kong office, which will include ongoing collaboration with MS&L and Huawei's corporate headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

"Huawei aims to build a strong global brand. Our global agency partners will play an important role in helping us manage strategy and messaging in order to position our brand consistently worldwide. In 2006, 65 percent of Huawei's contract sales were generated outside of China, so we have created the best integrated PR network, from a mix of Fleishman-Hillard and MS&L offices and affiliates, to serve as one strategic communications partner throughout the world," Ross Gan, head of corporate communications, Huawei Technologies said.

"We have enjoyed working with the talented professionals at Huawei over the past three years and look forward to continue helping the company build greater brand recognition and visibility abroad," Nancy Payne, senior vice president and general manager for Fleishman-Hillard Hong Kong said.

Glenn Osaki, MS&L's regional head for Asia Pacific said: "The opportunity to expand the Huawei brand globally is immense.  Huawei enjoys a unique position among Chinese companies that are serving the technology needs of an evolving world marketplace".
