Regional - CNBC is increasing its mobile services with a free news, business insights and commentary service on the WAP platform along with a premium WAP service which offers more in-depth country briefings, financial market updates and other premium markets and business intelligence.
Senior Vice President, Business Development and Partnerships, CNBC Asia Pacific, Alan Seiffert says the new products are particularly aimed at high net-worthers and financial professionals.
Seiffert says while many content creators are moving away from WAP and text services "CNBC sees lucrative revenue opportunities through text based products and 2G based services, in maximizing the reach of our content".
"CNBC will be able to tailor make our packages and offer these services to mobile operators and handset manufacturers across the region," Seiffert said. "End consumers are also able to subscribe directly to the content, through our WAP portal, asia.cnbc.com."
CNBC plans to offer the new services in Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Japan, China and Malaysia.
