Hong Kong - Journal International Publishing (Asia-Pacific) has appointed MediaWorks Asia to handle media rep duties for its American Express titles in Singapore and Malaysia, further expanding the outfit's foothold in Asia which already includes Hong Kong, mainland China, Macau and Thailand.
MediaWorks Asia represents luxury titles, Centurion, Platinum and Departures Europe, having launched Centurion Hong Kong in 2001.
The American Express titles are distributed to Centurion and Platinum Card members with high purchasing power, accounting for 5% of the highest card spenders in each market where the cards are issued.
Michael Klotz, associate group publisher for Journal International Publishing said: "MediaWorks Asia understands the luxury market in the region and through their success and longevity in Hong Kong it was only natural that we offered territorial expansion in Singapore and Malaysia as these markets mature rapidly".
"It is not only the understanding of the luxury sector, but MediaWorks Asia's ability to work towards attaining the goals of advertisers by catering to their needs and affording them the right exposure in the markets they have targeted".
The appointment will allow advertisers to be more efficient when seeking rates across multiple editions of the titles, not only in Asia but across Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, MediaWorks Asia established in 1998, represents many luxury magazines and major newspapers as well as a broad sub-representative network in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Philippines, India and Dubai.
