  • Qais and Wego to develop and market new website for ASEAN campaign
  • Website is primary marketing tool for new ASEAN global tourism effort
  • Campaign targets tourists in medium and long haul markets

Regional - Qais consulting and Wego are developing and marketing SoutheastAsia.org, a website which will be used as the primary marketing tool for a new global tourism campaign for ASEAN members.

Qais has also launched an e-marketing campaign to start building awareness for SoutheastAsia.org.

SoutheastAsia.org is the driving force behind a new global tourism effort which targets tourists in medium and long haul markets such as the UK, Australia, India, North America, and Hong Kong, launched by the ten member countries of ASEAN.

Wego will create the integrated map, trip planner, and meta-search engine which will be a key application integral to SoutheastAsia.org.

The initial phase of SoutheastAsia.org launch is centered on a contest to populate the website with user-generated text, images, and articles. The user-generated content will supplement professionally-sourced content from Lonely Planet, ASEAN's national tourism organisations, professional travel writers and other contributors.

The website and broader online marketing campaign will be fully launched at ITB Berlin in March.

The campaign slogan is "Southeast Asia: feel the warmth" and is supposed to emphasise the warmth of SE Asia's hospitality and climate and the diversity of the region's cultural attractions and tourism activities.

"Southeast Asia: feel the warmth" was jointly created by ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) and the ASEAN Competitiveness Enhancement (ACE) office in collaboration with the ten ASEAN member countries.

The ACE project was designed and funded by the United States Agency for International Development.
