Yeung Gwong brings sunshine everywhere
Hong Kong - Local drinks brand Yeung Gwong lemon tea has launched a digital campaign to rejuvenate the brand at its 25th anniversary.
Famous for its puppy love-themed TV commercials in the 1980s, Yeung Gwong has been quiet in advertising for many years.
To rejuvenate the brand and reconnect with local teenagers, Yeung Gwong has teamed up with Metta Communications and Universal McCann to launch a branding campaign titled "Sunshine Everywhere".
Running in tvc and online, it features a young high school girl and explores her relationship with her secret crush.
Her video blog is updated weekly on Yeung Gwong's official website for the next two months, where visitors can give her advice, post comments and send paper planes with secret messages to their friends.
A Facebook page has also been set up for visitors to stay updated of how the story develops and chat with the characters in the commercial.
Iris Chan, general manager of Metta, said this new campaign celebrates a new kind of puppy love as the female take on a braver role than before and express her feelings.
She added that as the brand name Yeung Gwong suggests, which means sunshine in Chinese, the campaign sends a positive and optimistic message to teenagers.
To date, the campaign has attracted more than 40,000 clicks on Youtube and over 50,000 paper planes have been sent to the female character on the official website.
