Singapore - Former GM for SPH Magazines, James Sundram has taken on a regional role at the Lonely Planet Group becoming head of Asia, based in Singapore.
In this role, which was previously managed out of the Lonely Planet's Melbourne office, Sundram is charged with setting up Asia operations. He reports directly to GM of Australia and Asia for Lonely Planet Group, Tony McKimmie.
"I had completed what I set out to do, and wanted to get back into a dynamic regional role and it's a great time to be establishing the Asia operations for such a powerful brand, with so much relevance and need in the market," he said.
"With Asia's fast growing affluence and the rest of the world focussing on it, there will be substantial increase in travel and a flurry of new travellers into Asia. We want to be right in the heart of things when it happens, offering our full range of products and services".
Sundram joined SPH as GM for its Magazine Division in 2004.
