The Standard each won four awards at the recent Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) 2007 awards. Winners were selected in 17 categories including excellence in feature writing, news photography and newspaper design.
The Financial Times was awarded for the scoop award, excellence in magazine front cover design and opinion writing as well as explanatory reporting for FTChinese.com, the newspaper's Chinese language website.
South China Morning Post won four awards in excellence in news photography, reporting on the environment and local journalist awards-English language as well as newspaper design for Sunday Morning Post.
The Standard bagged awards for excellence in human rights reporting, feature photography, business reporting and the scoop award.
Among the three publications, SCMP garnered five honorable mentions while FT and The Standard each had three.
TIME Asia and Ming Pao Weekly were at second place in the gong tally, bagging three awards each in various categories including excellence in special issue, section, feature photography, human rights reporting and magazine front cover design.
The SOPA Awards were established in 1999 as a tribute to editorial excellence in both traditional and new media, also aimed at encouraging "editorial vitality" throughout the region.
