Singapore - Big Fish Publishing has acquired the license to publish the Singapore edition of Stuff magazine and has launched the revamped title, while former publisher Roshambo Media has exited the Singapore market.

Having launched back in 2007, a Roshambo Media spokesperson confirmed their Singapore departure as a strategic decision. Stuff magazine was the company's first title.

Following Roshambo's move, Big Fish Publishing acquired the license from UK-based Haymarket Consumer Media in early November and relaunched the revamped magazine on December 9.

The revamped magazine sees a combined January/February issue and will assume a monthly schedule from March 2010. It will be published by Absolute Publishing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Big Fish Publishing which also produces CarBuyer.

Ian Rich will remain as editor and commented: "I think this is an important step forward for Stuff Singapore. The magazine has been completely redesigned, the production budget has been increased and we've upped the page count to 148 pages."

Overall responsibility for the magazine's performance rests on the shoulders of associate publisher Lawrence Leong, who served as advertising director for FHM Singapore before joining Sun Business Network as the associate publisher of NewMan.

Absolute Publishing is planning a circulation run of 30,000 copies for Stuff Singapore with island-wide distribution to be handled by MediaCorp.

"I'm excited about Stuff Singapore and the magazine's team is raring to go," said Leow Ju-Len, managing director of Big Fish Publishing.

"If fortune should favour us and we work our arses off in return, I'm sure Stuff Singapore will become the pre-eminent title of its kind."

Absolute Publishing has also been granted the rights to the domain name www.stuff.com.sg, and is planning to develop a substantial web presence for the magazine.
