Hong Kong- To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Hong Kong Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (HK4As) has adopted the theme "Making Brands Shine for 50 years" for its anniversary events and ad campaign.

Tagged "it takes blood, sweat, tears and a lot of polish to make one brand shine out from the clutter", the campaign kicked off with a ‘time tunnel' exhibition held at the Pacific Place Mall showcasing over 100 pieces of advertisements from the past 50 years.

The exhibition, on show till 10 June, features classic print ads, TV commercials and modern interactive ads using traditional and modern media tools and aims to arouse the collective memories of Hong Kong's lifestyles and changing tastes reflecting the issues that matter to Hong Kong people at different stages as depicted in the content of each ad.

The HK4As' anniversary ad campaign featuring professionals from the ad industry ‘dressed up' in cleaning tools such as sponges and brushes will launch in mid-June covering TV, on print in newspapers and magazines and radio as well as outdoor media such as billboards, LED TVs, bus shelters and bus body ads.

"Our anniversary is definitely an occasion for us to celebrate about, but at the same time, we hope that the awareness of the ad industry will be raised to help promote its importance in Hong Kong's creative industry and the public appreciation of one the oldest profession and its contributions," Royce Yuen, chairman for the HK4As said.
