Singapore -  Mobile communications and entertainment services provider mig33, has relocated its global operations to Singapore in a bid to support key growth regions.

It has raised more than US$20 million in funding from Silicon Valley's venture capital firms and aims to hire across the board particularly for its engineering and product development resources.

This relocation follows mig33's recent launch of its mobile games, which boasts of more than one million plays within 60 days of its launch.

Prior to this, it has inked deals with Indonesia's Indosat and Indian Premier League cricket teams, in which it developed and introduced mobile fan clubs for millions of customers.

"Asia is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, and in terms of mobile and social networking provides enormous potential for our growth. We're very excited with this move to Singapore as it helps put us right where the action is, at the crossroads between East and West and the centre of a thriving and flourishing region that is Asia," Steve Boom, Executive Chairman, mig33, said.

However, it is not looking to monetise the platform through ads currently, rather is using virtual content, such as emoticons, content and virtual gifts.

"Within mig33, we have credits to buy and use these services. They can buy credits via credit card, local mig33 merchant resellers and we have partnered with distributors of prepaid cards/vouchers in some countries. Currently we are not supported by external ads," Boom added.
