Malaysia - Lenovo, Intel and Tangs have come together to launch an interactive marketing initiative featuring live blogging at Pavilion shopping centre this morning.
The Live Mannequin blogathon event is a 24-hour challenge spread over two days featuring four lifestyle bloggers competing in different tasks using social media tools in the window displays at Tangs Pavilion.
During the two-day event, the bloggers have to blog and tweet on topics related to fashion and technology to earn comments with the winner, based on the number of blog posts, comments and re-tweets generated, receiving Lenovo's new IdeaPad U350 notebook and a RM500 Tangs voucher. The laptop is powered by Intel technology.
Speaking at the launch this morning, Lenovo communications manager ASEAN Derrick Koh said the fashion-technology theme is the brands attempt at reaching out to a new audience.
Lenovo ran a similar event in Singapore in July which resulted in over 40,000 page views on the campaign micro-site. The Singapore initiative was a single day or 24-hour challenge event.
Eric Zhao, country manager, consumer sales, Lenovo Malaysia said the new IdeaPad U350 laptop, with its unique checkerboard pattern on the top cover, was "pushing the envelope on design - just like fashion designers do."
"So it is very apt that we are able to provide the notebook of choice for the blogathon where fashion and technology entwined," he said.
The four bloggers for the Malaysia blogathon were engaged through blog advertising network Nuffnang.
The general public can engage with the bloggers through Facebook and Twitter and Lenovo has setup four laptop stations within Tangs.
An official Facebook page for the blogathon has also been launched.
